Differential quenching
Hi All,
I am starting to experiment with differential quenching. While doing a quench what if i was to put the edge into the oil say the first 3/4 inch with the rest of the blade out of the quench, then leave the knife in the oil half in and half out and let it cool until i can touch it. What will this do to the blade. Will the blade be springy. Or will the heat from the top half of the blade draw the hardness off the edge? Thanks in advance. |
