How do you display your favorite Randalls?
Ok, so we have been a little quiet for the last few days. I just finished a couple of weeks ago working on a display cabinet for a couple of my favorite Randalls that I wanted to show you.
How about we make this thread fun and show how we display some of our knives? I made my display case from curly maple, and houses my 1943 thong clip fighter, with Clarence Moore sheath, and mid 1960's Astro with Maurice Johnson large rivet sheath. Regards, Sam |

Sam, that shadow box is gorgeous! Great job! It should be housing a few knives like this Combat Companion.

Shadow Boxes
I use 16"X20" black shadow boxes from Michael's Arts & Crafts for displays.
Me and Gary Randall outside of the shop. My Ivory handled King Faisal set. A very special Model 12-6" Little Bear Bowie with hand written letter by Bo Randall writing in detail about the knife. One of my 64 gun Cannon safes being converted to hold shelves of shadow boxes containing Randall knife displays. Last edited by Ta2bill; 08-07-2017 at 12:00 AM. |

I posted this idea before. I buy antique silverware chests on E-bay... $60 or so. They can hold 4 or 5 bigger knives and sheaths or 7-8 smaller knives/sheaths. And the knives can be shown by lift of cover but are hidden from view when the wrong people are visiting ...

Thanks guys for your photos and stories. Good stuff! Great knives!
Bill, those are outstanding King Faisal Bowies! Nice display too. Jack, great ideas for storage and display. Outstanding knives! Bill, I gotta ask, what the significance of the Apollo 7 Space Cover in with the special little bear? Ronnie, thanks for the complement. Regards, Sam |

Quote:
Hey Sam, The letter dated 6/10/69 that accompanies this Little Bear talks about the knife as well as the man receiving it. His name was PVT. Richard (Dick) Douglass, was a friend of Bo and Gary, and was aboard the USS Essex, which was to be the recovery ship for the Apollo 7 Space Mission. The Essex was decommissioned a couple months after this letter was written by Bo. |

Putting together a display of Early "Non-Catalog" Pathfinders. All are very special in some sense or the other, mainly exotic handle materials. A couple of "filler" knives have been added temporarily.
From top to bottom (left) 1) The knife that more or less started it all: L.L. Bean serial #023 of 325 made. 2) 1991 "Green" catalog Ivory Tip Handle with fully engraved Hilt and Collar. 3) Fossil Walrus Ivory Handle with fully engraved Hilt and Butt Cap. 4) Walnut Handle with Rick Bowles Ivory Scrimshaw Insert of Mt. Rushmore. From top to bottom (right) 5) Special "Gail White" Authorized Assembled Model 8-4" with "W" Etching. 6) 1991 "Green" catalog White Poly Pearl Handled Model 5-4" Reduced Hilt. 7) Fossil Walrus Ivory and Buffalo Horn "Model 25" Handle Pathfinder. 8) Presentation Grade Buffalo Horn Handle originally ordered in 1993 |

good stuff Bill.... you have a lot to display.
This is a silverware storage chest I bought recently...about $80 with shipping. I'm experimenting how to use it... attach sheaths on lid, line with jungle fatigue material, etc. It is bigger than others so must find right place too. I just thought it was cool with the eagle. |

I do not display many knives. Too lazy to get everything organized.
But I do have this display of RMK, model 5's. IMG_2338.JPG __________________ ----------- Rod Brown RKS 3846 |
