Question for the Randall Experts

I posted another thread about cleaning up a couple of old Randall's. The owner asked me a question I can't answer. He says that people have told him that you can look at the spacer rings on a Randall knife and tell the year that it was made.

Is that true or just an urban legend?

Jack,

The spacers are just part of the "tell". Other features need to be considered as well: Blade grind, choil configuration, stamp, guard, handle, butt, etc. If the sheath and stone are original they also can help date the knife.

Best,

Ron
