I agree with the following set up.

Stag, shop supplied ironwood, CW exotic wood? I cannot decide. All would be excellent. I am leaning towards CW exotic wood because I have quite a few with stag and shop ironwood. Teardrop handle shape and brass and black spacers would be my choice. Either no buttcap or a butt plate to save weight.

Byrdguy,
Thanks for the picture, nice knife! Does a reduction hilt help you hold on to it better or can you get finger grips on that style handle? __________________ See Ya, Chief David Francis |

Thanks Jeff, Sorry I was so vague about the finger grips. I'm trying to learn a little more about that handle style (teardrop) on all sizes or is this a 3/16 handle only?

Big teardrops.....
No, Crew,
Don't worry. I'm not crying. I'm just fixin' to answer a question. Other models, including some 1/4" stock knives are available in teardrop...but no finger grips, regardless. Also: Byrdguy reminded me that a teardrop shaped handle is even cooler with a collar. I am not taking orders for nickel silver collars until the shop gets more "caught up"...Still: A nice Randall, Pat. Best, The "Captain" __________________ Captain Chris Stanaback |

Jump Ship!!!
Crew,
ARGH!!!!!!!!!! Did all crewmembers jump ship? 4 days and no sight of land!! ARGH!!!!!!!! I guess nobody wants this lil' knife! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!Let's decide on "something"?? How about hardware? Deciding on brass or nickel silver hardware will help determine what kind of cw (if any) we use...."OR"....We can decide on handles. That will determine hardware...Too confusing for the Ol' Cap'n!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!Help me out!! Best, The "Captain" __________________ Captain Chris Stanaback |

Cap., Some of us are still here.
To recap where we are at, we have agreed to the following: #7 x 5" Stainless Steel Blade (1st Option) I am looking at the following for my Build: #6 Grind (still open? & is this an Option?) Thumb Notches (2nd Option) Brass Hilt (Standard) Brass & Black Spacers (3rd Option) Stag Handle (4th Option) Wrist Thong (5th Option) If the #6 Grind is an Extra Cost Option, than I will drop the Thumb Notches & install them myself. __________________ RKS# 4332 Mike Walters Last edited by mhwwlmc; 07-23-2007 at 11:27 AM. |

Steve and Mike
Mike: #6 grind had been eliminated from consideration and..YES: It "is"an option.
Steve: Too many options, dude! Your total is 6!"Teardrop"shaped, just like any other special handle shape is a "chargeable"option. I have green tenite in stock....but it is very.....VERY heavy material folks. It is as heavy a fossil walrus, just to give you and idea. Keep on posting though, crew. I'm glad that "some" hands are "on deck"!! Best, The "Captain" __________________ Captain Chris Stanaback |
