Bi-monthly Q & A....??

Everyone,
How about this idea for a Randall content related thread? Why don't I field your questions, along with Boblade, and everyone else participating on this forum. You can ask anything you may want to and I will do my best to get the answers for ya'! Note: I said "get the answers for ya'", not "answer them". In many many cases I will have to contact the Randall shop, Scott, Jason, Gary Randall or someone else in the "know". I can do this on my visits to the shop and not tie up the phones, faxes and internet at Randall, keeping those fine folks free to do what they do best.
If you like this idea, we can try it. We can "refresh" with a new thread twice a month, if needed. The questions will remain fresh that way and not fall off the page and dissapear from our sight and minds.....Just an idea..What do you think? Best, The "Captain"

Cap n' All,

I've be glad to attempt to field questions about the older ones (50's back) as best I'm able (I know virtually squat about the newer ones, but the Cap and others can cover this area quite well). That includes any auctions that come up on e-bay. If I don't know the answer then I know other old farts I can contact who might.

Best to all,

Ron

Cap and Ron, this sounds like a great idea!

I'm sure folks can come up with lots of pertinent RMK questions, and thanks for offering to lend your expertise towards seeking the answers.

I'll also try to come up with some queries, and maybe give some answers (they're usually wrong ones), so you guys can correct me.

Cheers!

David

Ron,
I am glad you will do eBay as I take the same view as Gary Randall on that one...Gotta see the knife, etc. I can "guesstmate" now and then. We'll see what the folks here can come up with. Best, The "Captain"

Cap,

That's always one of my disclaimers Notwithstanding, there are some auctions where you don't need the knife in hand in order to offer some helpful advice or assistance.

Best,

Ron

First of all, Chief, I would not burn an option to get a FCH on a Model #1. The hilt will be too heavy and un-necessary. The standard brass double hilt will look..and "work"..fine!
I would opt for brass and black spacers, brass butt cap and finger grips. That is one way to go. If you like stag, match up the brass hardware and eliminate the FG's. Say you want nickel silver? Swell pal: Order a nickel silver double hilt aluminum and black spacers and a "Crow's Beak" butt cap. That will give you a cool #22 styled leather handled Model #1 fighter! How many of those have ya' seen?
O.K.: My work is finished here...Best, The "Captain"

Your gonna regret this plan!

If I supply my own stag to the shop how much will I be charged & is there a difference in price for CW depending on what it is?

CW charges run from $50.00 up to $65.00. Fossil Walrus is the top prize. Regular ivory is $50.00, along with various woods and micartas. G-10 is $60.00. Stag would be the same as CW (wood), i.e. $50.00!! Best, The "Captain"

No intent to stepping on the Capt. here, but another choice is "All 1 Color" Spacers, such as all Black or all Red. Best part NO CHARGE / No Sacred 5 Options used.
