Knifekid passes on
I was very saddened to learn that longtime knife enthusiast Perry Miller died yesterday. Perry was known as Knifekid here on the Knife Network. He had not been well for several years but his death was unexpected.
Perry was a great guy whom I was fortunate to meet at the 2005 Blade Show. He had a genuine passion for not just Randalls but all types of knives. He was very knowledgeable and willing to share his expertise. Perry served as President of the National Knife Collectors Association (NKCA) in 2008. You can hear a very interesting interview with him as President here: http://cutlerynewsjournal.wordpress....kca-president/ Perry had been Randall Made Knives official go to guy for the authentication of Randalls for the past several years. He was considered an expert on pocket knives, particularly Case brand. He was also a great purveyor of Randall knives back in his heyday when he ran Spaceport Cutlery. I snagged a few beauties from him myself. Perry was a Marine veteran and during his career he operated an electrical contracting business which worked on projects for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center. Perry will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends. Here's a picture I took of Perry at the show: Regards. David Last edited by Moosehead; 07-31-2014 at 09:28 AM. Reason: grammar and spelling corrections |

I didn't know you KnifeKid, but from that Eagle, Globe & Anchor hanging from your neck you are surely a brother Marine! Semper Fi and shout loudly at the Pearly Gates! RIP Brother.

Thanks for your post, David. I got to know Perry at the Blade Show as well. We were both smokers at the time and would go back out to the shipping dock to grab a quick one on a regular basis. This went on for five straight years, so there were many conversations. As you mention, he knew and loved knives with Case and Randall being his favorites. Beyond that, he was really a fun guy to be around and always had a joke and a smile. If you needed help, you could always count on him. Rest in peace, my friend. A lot of people are missing you right now.
