Weed burner forge
Here?s my new weed burner forge. It works great for getting nice long even reducing heats for lower temperature procedures, including thermal processing and hammer finishing. Those kinds of heats are hard to get with most of the propane burners I?ve tried. About the only things it wouldn?t be good for are heavy hogging on large stock, pattern welding or getting small localized heats. It gets up to a bright orange, but not a full yellow heat... It works great for forging thin flat stock. This chamber has a splint feed guide at the top for an even more reducing atmosphere, when needed. It?s a handy tool to have around.

What kind of weed are you burning in this forge, Tai? Due to the fact that i am living only 4 miles from the netherlands frontier, i may help you if you run out of fuel........

Achim, I think Tai was talking tumble weeds. I think you got your weedy's mixed up.
Thats the same type HF burner I have had. Think that when I first started buying them when they were on sale there were around 13 bucks. If you pull the trigger to fast you can end up on the moon. I'll have to pick up another one. I used mine for general forging a lot. Seem to be good on gas to. |

It's a high density ceramic thermal blanket with kiln cement.

Nice. It's like looking at a Pug....and seeing beauty. This may be what I am looking for.
Tai, if I'm using that forced air.....will it cause more decarb (by sheer virtue of O2 being added in a greater amount) __________________ Be mindful Practice kindness |

A burner this big, used with forced air, will not decarb but melt your blades.

I was talking about my current forge at home. I'd like to try one of these though.

I don't think forced air necessarily causes more decarb,... but it could.
The flame from the weed burner is very reducing, large, even and mellow. You don't have to worry so much about hot spots, over heating, scale and decarb. |

Blaine, HF has that burner on sale right now for $18.99. Now with the sales tax in Cal it should be still less than a 100 bucks. Think I may go get one for myself again.
